Lendy, one of the UK’s leading peer-to-peer (”P2P”) property investment platforms, today announces it will be introducing a dedicated stage for rising guitar bands for this August’s Lendy Cowes Week – the world’s largest regatta – drawing more than 100,000 visitors every year.

The Lendy New Generation Music Stage, based in Cowes Parade Village, will form the centrepiece of the Lendy Cowes Week shoreside experience on August 8th 2018. At a time when a new generation of bands is emerging from all corners of the UK, the new stage will give Lendy Cowes Week’ visitors the opportunity to enjoy top, rising talent during the day – and giving some rising stars the opportunity to play in a new setting and to win over new audiences.

Lendy’s decision to launch a new music stage is rooted in its position as one of the UK’s leading P2P brands. The emerging music scene has become very dependent on P2P-style investment like crowdfunding. Many bands today manage themselves as businesses and they use community funding and social media networks to grow their brands.

As title sponsor of Cowes Week, Lendy is keen to bring elements of the P2P economy to shoreside activities and is already considering growing the stage next year into a broader performance and live crowdfunding opportunity for participating bands.

Lendy is currently working with Brighton-based music college WaterBear and GreatMusicStories.com to filter 120 acts down to just six bands. The final line-up will feature some of the most exciting and contemporary music for the modern age – but geared towards the unique Cowes setting and appeal to a wide-ranging, family-orientated audience. The line up for the day will be announced on 15 June 2018.

Lendy Cowes Week attracts more than 100,000 visitors to the week-long event and, aside from the world-class sailing competitions, the shoreside is alive all week with its own vibrant festival of arts, culture and leisure activities.

Paul Riddell, head of marketing & communications at Lendy, comments: “Since becoming the title sponsor of Cowes Week last year, we’ve been keen to preserve the important traditions of the event, whilst also introducing new ideas. We are keen to bring the spirit of P2P into the DNA of the shoreside activities. The Lendy New Generation Stage will start small but, with the crowdfunding dimension, could well become a must-play event for emerging bands in the coming years.

“Giving seriously talented young bands the opportunity to reach new audiences helps us to ensure that Lendy Cowes Week can make a real difference to people’s lives, whilst offering something new and original for the thousands of visitors to Cowes to enjoy.

“Sail Hard, Play Hard is our motto – and we believe our new music stage will bring a lot of of fun and excitement to everyone that visits Lendy Cowes Week on Wednesday 8th August.”

About Lendy – The Property Platform

Lendy is one of Europe’s largest peer-to-peer secured lending platforms. In the age of ultra-low interest rates, Lendy allows investors to earn gross annual returns of up to 12%, one of the highest interest rates of any peer to peer platform.

Since 2012, Lendy’s 21,500 investors have invested around £397 million and earned over £40 million in interest. Remember, past performance is not a guarantee of future performance. With all investment, capital is at risk.

Peer-to-peer lending has grown in popularity over recent years, partly as a result of high street banks becoming increasingly risk averse and reigning in lending following the economic crash in 2008. Investors are now seeking higher returns on their investments than are available through most traditional investment vehicles.

Lendy’s bridging and development loans have helped to fund hundreds of property developments, including major residential conversions, and commercial and industrial property – developments that simply wouldn’t have been delivered otherwise. This kind of finance is critical to tackling the UK’s housing shortfall, with house building now at its lowest rate since the Second World War.

Lendy offers loans returning between 7% and 12%, along with the opportunity of additional cash backs and bonuses. This allows investors to diversify their portfolios to reflect their attitude to risk. Unlike with direct investment in buy to let property, investors can easily avoid concentration risk.

Lendy’s minimum investment is just £1, allowing people to diversify their investment portfolios regardless of size, and giving smaller investors access to high-yielding property investment they could not previously access.

All Lendy loans are secured with a charge over UK property, and are written at a maximum of 75% LTV.

Valuations are undertaken by independent RICS-registered valuers. Lendy’s due diligence process includes a five-phase credit assessment ensuring the property provides security for the total capital and interest costs due under the loan.

Investors’ capital is at risk if a borrower defaults, and peer to peer platforms are not covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme – see https://lendy.co.uk/managing-risk for information on risk. Please obtain independent financial advice if you are in any doubt as to whether an investment is suitable for you.
