Cowes Week 2018 will soon be held off the Isle of Wight. One of the world’s largest and oldest regatta events, it’s famed throughout the world and is expected to attract thousands of spectators once again.
Here’s all you need to know about what Lendy Cowes Week is, when and where it’ll be held, ticket information and about the Red Arrows flyover and fireworks show.

What is Lendy Cowes Week?
Lendy Cowes Week is an annual regatta known for being the largest of its kind in the world.
First held in August 1826 in Cowes, UK, the regatta typically hosts 40 daily sailing races with up to 1,000 ships and 8,000 competitors taking part.
The annual festival originated from King George IV’s passion for yachting and has continued to attract thousands of spectators and competitors, both professional and amateur, for almost two centuries.
When is Lendy Cowes Week 2018?
Lendy Cowes Week 2018 will be held from Saturday, August 4 until Saturday, August 11.
Traditionally, the event is held starting the first Saturday after the last Tuesday in July.
The sailing regatta has been held annually since 1826 except during World War I and World War II.
Where is Lendy Cowes Week?
Lendy Cowes Week is held in Cowes, England on the Solent, a narrow strait separating the Isle of Wight from the English coastline.
Cowes is located on the northern coast of the Isle of Wight on the western bank of the River Medina estuary.
The town has a long and rich history of yacht racing, being the home of the Royal Yacht Squadron since its founding back in 1815.
Lendy Cowes Week tickets
Although spectators are able to watch the famed yacht race free of charge from the shoreline, spectator boats can also be hired by those seeking a closer view.
The boats can be hired for hour-long trips from Trinity Landing at Cowes Parade and depart at 11am BST, 12:30pm BST and 2pm BST. Booking for the boats can be made on the Parade at the Regatta Centre.
Lendy Cowes Week Red Arrows flyover and fireworks
The Red Arrows flyover will begin at 7:30pm BST on Friday, August 10 followed by the Lendy Cowes Fireworks Display at 9:30pm BST.
The display will last for approximately 20 minutes and take place off of the Parade. Prime viewing spots for the spectacular fireworks show include the Parade, the Green, the Esplanade and in neighboring East Cowes.
